READ THIS: About GCC Podcast

First let me warn you: The GCC Messages Podcast is a work in progress. There are many mistakes with regard to the consistency in format, poor usability, and other errors. But we are slowly making progress.

ALL THE MESSAGES HAVE BEEN RE-RENDERED TO A SMALLER FORMAT. They are now about 15mb each instead of the 30-40mb that they had been running. You should not notice any difference. They are also now mono rather than stereo.

Regarding the media content in the GCC Messages Podcast: Depending on your computer there are several ways that you can hear the GCC messages. Since these files are large, running about 15mg each, high speed internet is a must.

If you have certain software installed you may be able to simply click on the message title and you should be able to hear that message. It is possible, however, that either you don’t have the necessary software installed, your firewall or other permissions restrictions won’t allow the message to be played.

You may be able to right-click on the message title and select “Save target as..”  You will see a dialog box and are given an opportunity to save the entire message in a file on your computer. Then you can copy that file onto a PDA, MP3 player, or IPod and play it at a later time.

Although we are not yet providing Podcast service (ala Apple(tm)) we hope to do so in the future. There are several projects in the works at the moment.

You can, however, download the messages in the mp3 format and play them on your Ipod or mp3 player.  Here are the instructions:

Place your mouse pointer over the message that you want to download and RIGHT-CLICK (one click only) on the message title. A selection of things to do will pop up.

Move the mouse pointer to the “Save target as…” and LEFT-CLICK (one click only.)

A dialog box will appear giving you and opportunity to select the location and name of the file that you are downloading.

Click (LEFT-CLICK, one click only) on the SAVE button and the download will begin. These files are running about 30mb each so even with high speed internet it will take a while. Be patient.

Continue to be patient. When it is finished, depending on your settings, either the DOWNLOADING progress window will disappear or the choices will change from CANCEL to CLOSE and it will give you the option to OPEN the file.

You can use your own software and methods to get the downloaded mp3 file onto your Ipod or mp3 player.

This is great for your commute into work. I get to listen to all the messages at least twice since I prepare them to put them online. I always get something more, usually something important, the second time I listen to the messages.

Enjoy. And please email us your comments, suggestions, or problems with the website.
